BOOKKEEPER/ACCOUNTANT

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant to manage financial transactions, maintain accurate records, and support financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in accounting and bookkeeping, including experience in payroll processing and financial compliance. Experience in human resources is a plus, as this role may also encompass HR functions such as payroll, benefits administration, and employee record management.

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Maintain and update financial records, including general ledger entries, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations; including ability to determine appropriate adjusting entries to general ledgers where needed to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Prepare and analyze financial statements, draft financial reports and summaries for management.
  • Process invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments in a timely matter.
  • Assist in budget preparation and expense tracking
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including all tax reporting and filing of tax records with relevant authorities/agencies.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and financial discrepancies.
  • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and financial records.
  • Process payroll, ensuring accuracy in wages, taxes, and deductions and make breakdowns available for management review.
  • Maintain employee records, including timekeeping, benefits, and leave balances (monitoring and maintaining records of paid and unpaid time off, vacation leave, sick leave, etc.)
  • Assist with onboarding of new employees, benefits administration, and compliance with labor laws.
  • Support HR functions such as policy implementation, personnel recordkeeping, employee relations, and compliance reporting.

General Requirements and Skills:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or financial management. HR experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
  • Must be eligible to work in Guam and have a Guam driver’s license.
  • Micronesian language speaker preferred: Marshallese, Kosraean, or Palauan speaker needed.
  • Computer skills required. Proficiency in QuickBooks, Excel, and accounting software. Familiarity with payroll processing is a plus.
  • Knowledge and understanding of GAAP principles, financial reporting, and tax compliance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Personable, team player, with strong management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrates high ethical standards and personal integrity.

Salaries and Benefits: Attractive compensation and benefits package to be negotiated based on experience, qualifications, and credentials.
